1. Race is run on a rolling 8-mile loop in Poolesville, MD. MAP.

2. Races run rain or shine.

3. Entry fee for all races is $35, which includes the USA Cycling registration fee. No Mail in Registration – online or race day only. Race-day entry fee is $40 (which includes a late fee). Register online at www.BikeReg.com Online registration ends 4/17/13. Race-day registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes 15 minutes prior to each race.

4. Transfers will be allowed up to 4/12/13. No transfers will be made after that date. Entry fees will not be refundable under any circumstances.

5. Riders who are lapped or out of contention may be pulled at officials’ discretion.

6. All USA Cycling rules apply. The centerline rule will be in effect and vigorously enforced.

7. Each race will be followed by a wheels in/wheels out support vehicle. Race promoter is not responsible for lost or missing wheels.

8. The following events (listed parenthetically) are included in the following BAR competitions: Novice Women BAR (Women 4); Senior Women BAR (Women 1/2/3/4); Men Masters 35+ 3/4 BAR (Men Masters 35+ 3/4); Novice Men BAR (Men 4); Senior Men BAR (Men 1/2/3); and Senior 3 Men BAR (Men 3).

Rockburn Cross Race Report

First race report, and first season racing for the team. My first road race wasn’t that great (I ruined a jersey that Nick gave me by hitting the deck at the end) but the cross season has been really fun. If you haven’t tried cross, I would recommend borrowing a bike or getting the old mountain bike in working order and trying it out. It is a painful blend of the handling skills of mountain biking, the threshold efforts of time trialing, and the sudden accelerations and decelerations that can come on some road rides (or commutes with alot of stop lights). Throw in knee high barriers, sand pits, beer, and waffles and you have yourself a cross race.
